Join us for our first-ever Faculty Showcase Concert: Arts4All Benefit

Join us for a special celebration of the arts. Our first-ever Faculty Showcase Concert featuring our exceptional music faculty is set for 7:30pm on Saturday, April 20 in Tateuchi Hall. The concert will raise funds for CSMA’s financial aid and scholarship programs in support of our mission to provide access to the arts for all. Get your tickets here.

Mohr Gallery Exhibit by Silicon Valley Studios reflects on community and resilience

 

CSMA is pleased to present the work of Silicon Valley Open Studios. Themes of community, resiliency, and renewal are reflected in the 20 works of art chosen for the exhibition in Mohr Gallery. Learn more. Music at Tateuchi welcomes new Artistic Director Dawn Harms; Application deadline is April 30

We are pleased to welcome Dawn Harms as the new Artistic Director for Music at Tateuchi. Harms’ diverse career ranges from being a chamber musician, violin soloist, and concertmaster, to being a music director and conductor. She is a first violinist in the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, Associate Concertmaster for the New Century Chamber Orchestra, and Co-Concertmaster with the Oakland Symphony. Applications are now open for Music at Tateuchi. Deadline is April 30, 2024.

Spring Break camps offer endless ways to create

What’s Spring Break without art? Join us April 8-12 for the upcoming school break for a variety of fun and engaging camps for ages 5-14. From exploring earth’s treasures and reimagining museum art to creating your own comic, inspiration is endless at CSMA. Check out our camp lineup and claim your spot today!

Workshop Week is April 9-13

CSMA is excited to present a variety of engaging and enriching music workshops this spring! Workshop Week is open to all private lesson students at no additional cost. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn something new, strengthen existing musical skills, and more. There is no limit to the number of workshops you can attend. Register here.

A Cappella Vocal Ensemble invited to community show

Students in CSMA’s A Cappella Vocal Ensemble (The Clef Hangers) and a quartet of our singers (The Sopranotes) both performed for the Barbershop Harmony Society Far-Western District Youth A Cappella Showcase. They were a hit and were invited to sing for an a cappella “May 4 Cabaret” in Sunnyvale hosted by The Peninsulaires Barbershop Chorus. Congrats!

Staff and Faculty Updates

 

Cathy Chang joins CSMA as an art instructor. Cathy is a studio artist specializing in ceramics and traditional craft techniques. She received her BFA in Studio Art from the University of Southern California, where she studied ceramics with ceramic artist Mr. Ken Price, known for his abstract clay figures. Welcome Cathy!

 

Ryan Fitzpatrick is CSMA’s new Belmont Program Coordinator. With a background in property management and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Music from Cal State, he brings a unique blend of skills to the table. He is a dog person and plays bass guitar as his primary instrument. Welcome to the team!

 

Sydney Calinisan is a new member of our art faculty. Sydney believes that building confidence in the artistic process is vital to learning any type of art medium. She studied traditional art and illustration in community college and later pursued a degree in graphic design at San Jose State University. Welcome Sydney!
