Guitarist/vocalist Ruth Parry is a graduate of Berklee College of Music (Boston), who works as a composer, arranger, and transcriber for various projects, including independent film. She has performed with Peruvian musical greats Juan Medrano Cotito (Ambassador of the Cajon), David Pinto (bass) and former members of Peru Negro, Marina Lavalle & Lalo Izquierdo. She has also performed with Latin percussionist John Santos & jazz trombonist, Steve Turre. Ruth is co-author of the guitar instruction book, “The Beginner’s Guide to Guitar,” and contributor to the book “Music Basics for Guitarists.” She has written for Acoustic Guitar magazine, and has arranged guitar quartets, published digitally.
She teaches guitar in a large range of styles (jazz, Latin jazz, classic rock, pop, fingerstyle, western classical and more). Ruth studies Indian classical music with teachers Bruce Hamm (sarod) and Tim White (sitar), both students of Ali Akbar Khan. She leads the world-fusion music project, “Sound Anatomy,” mixing traditional sounds with modern grooves, fusing musical cultures, both past and present, to celebrate all aspects of the human family.
