Olga Moudry

Education and Background

A native of Russia, Olga Moudry has appeared on the stages of the Bolshoi Opera, Kazan Opera Theater, Stainlavkey Opera Theater, and Mälmo Opera Theater in Sweden before emigrating to the US. After her move, Olga appeared on many stages across the country including Hawaii Opera Theater, San Francisco Lyric Opera, West Bay Opera and DiCapo Opera in New York, Illinois Opera Theater, Cedar Rapids Opera, Gold Coast Opera and Opera North, and with Tampa Opera.

She has been described by critics as possessing “a pure, strong soprano with phrasing of sumptuous elegance’ (San Francisco Chronicle), “a strong voice, with well-rounded tone and fullness in all registers” (San Francisco Classical Voice), and “a lyric voice focused and alluring… subtly expressive.” (Opera News).

She started teaching consistently 10 years ago. Olga joined MTAC (Music Teacher Association of California) to provide her students access to a CM testing system as well as competing and performing opportunities. As a member of MTAC, Olga organized Community Outreach programs in senior homes 4 times a year to provide even more performing opportunities to the students.

Olga encourages her students to participate in exams and competitions. Her students have won prestigious awards in the NATS NorCal Regional Auditions: Kids Classical Division and Upper High School Division, Schmidt Vocal Competition, and Voce Competition. Olga’s students have gone on to study voice in college and have been accepted into many distinguished schools such as the University of California (USC).

Teaching Philosophy

Singing is a love of my life, and I am happy to share my love, knowledge and experience with students. When students bring their selections to the classroom, I love learning new repertoire together with them. My professional experience taught me to understand the nature of the human voice, and treat it with respect and care. Every student is different, there is no single teaching method effective for everybody. We all have certain goals, but everybody has to take his own road to achieve this goal. And my goal is to help students to find the best road.

I enjoy seeing how my students develop their voices, broaden their musical interests, and become more confident not only on stage but also in real life. Sometimes change is so dramatic – it’s like a caterpillar turns into a butterfly!
