He has studied violin extensively with Li Lin (The Juilliard School), Chen Zhao (SFCM), Ian Swensen (SFCM), Varty Manouelian (UCLA), and Movses Pogossian (UCLA). While at UCLA, he completed his Music Performance studies on a full scholarship and was awarded the Dean’s Medal for his achievements.

As a performer, Elvin has been loaned rare instruments, including a Stradivarius violin and Voirin bow used to perform as a featured soloist with the UCLA Philharmonia. He has served as concertmaster for multiple ensembles across California and toured internationally in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein, and the Rudolfinum.

Elvin also frequently coaches youth orchestras and K-12 schools across the South Bay, as well as serving as the Artistic Operations Manager with the Golden State Youth Orchestra.

Teaching Philosophy

Elvin believes that everyone can speak the language of music, and encourages students of all ages to explore what classical music has to offer. As a violin teacher, he emphasizes the importance of fundamentals through careful examination of technique, and assists his students with finding their own musical voice.

Each student has their own set of musical goals, and Elvin is prepared to help his students reach them, no matter how ambitious they may be. He acknowledges that each student is unique, and that finding the right approach for each individual is instrumental to their success throughout their musical journey.

There are so many lessons that can be learned through music, but it is not just limited to things such as what is printed on the sheet music or technique being taught in a lesson. So much of music relates to everyday life, such as developing a strong work ethic through practice or gaining confidence through performing on stage. Elvin also constantly draws from regular life experiences and uses them to explain concepts.

Above all, music should be fun! Elvin is always keen on finding different ways to help his students find their passion in music.
