Community School of Music and Arts has been the leader in high-quality music education in Silicon Valley since our founding in 1968. We are currently looking for a voice faculty to teach private lessons in our Corporate Arts program in Sunnyvale, Palo Alto, San Francisco (optional), and at our Belmont location. Both music programs feature private lessons and group classes in voice. At Belmont, we offer private lessons for children, teens, and adults and with our Corporate Arts program, would be only adults. This is a part-time, hourly position. Please be sure to review the schedule information below prior to applying.

 

Skills/Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practical aspects of private music instruction and a solid understanding of voice pedagogy.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in performance, musical theater, and/or music education with an emphasis in voice or vocal pedagogy.
  • Proven success in teaching in a private studio.
  • Choral conducting experience is a plus.
  • Experience and interest in teaching students of all ages, abilities and interest levels with an emphasis on appreciation and enjoyment of music.
  • Capability of teaching vocal technique utilizing multiple genres including musical theater and pop.
  • Demonstrated success teaching beginning-level students preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to teach and converse comfortably with diverse groups of people.
  • The ability to communicate in a positive and consistent way with parents, students and administration.
  • Performing experience preferred.

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in performance, musical theater, and/or music education with an emphasis in voice or vocal pedagogy.

 

Work Environment

  • Recruiting, scheduling, billing and customer service is handled by full-time staff.
  • Staff takes into account the individual teaching philosophy of each teacher when placing students.

Schedule

  • Teach in-person at CSMA’s satellite campus in Belmont
  • Must be available teach at least 2 days a week, each day to include minimum of 4 hours prime time as defined by CSMA
  • Schedule – Tuesday through Friday 3:30pm – 8:30pm and Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm
