Education and Background

Rebecca loves both music and technology. After receiving her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan and Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, she worked as a software engineer for 3 years. Since the calling of her love for music from her deepest part of being had become stronger and stronger, she decided to quit her engineering job to pursue her music study. She received her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Literature and a Performance Certificate in honor of an outstanding performer from Eastman School of Music.

During Rebecca’s graduate study, she took full responsibility in giving piano classes and private piano lessons to the undergraduate students in music major at Eastman School of Music. After she graduated from Eastman, she moved back to the bay area and worked as a hardware engineer on weekdays and gave private piano lessons on weekends for 5 years. She has been teaching piano full time in her home studio for the past 10 years. In addition to piano teaching, she enjoys making music with other musicians. She was the piano accompanist of the chancel choir in West Valley Presbyterian Church in Cupertino for 6 years.

Teaching Philosophy

Rebecca loves music and would like her students to have the same appreciation on it. She believes that music is for everyone and everyone is unique, so she adjusts her teaching method to meet the need of different students. Her goal is to discover and nurture her student’s talent and love for music. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she is very good at working on music with both kids and adults. As a very friendly and patient teacher, her students enjoy learning piano from her.
