Education and Background

A New York transplant and life-long drummer, Erik played Dvorak at Carnegie Hall and rocked at CBGB’s in his teens. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a degree in Professional Music and Percussion Performance in 1991.

After graduating from Berklee, Erik toured until 2004 with the progressive jazz quartet Schleigho as well as performing with the likes of jazz great John Scofield, funk legend Maceo Parker and rock icons The Allman Brothers Band. Erik has taught privately and as a band and ensemble teacher in schools in the NYC area.

Teaching Philosophy

Snare Drum and Drumset lessons focus on building a rhythmic vocabulary and applying it to classical and rudimental snare drumming, rock, funk, jazz and world music styles simultaneously. Technique, creativity and confidence are developed, allowing the student to use what they are learning to express and challenge themselves, play music with others and along with recordings of their favorite artists.
