Please see below for details on ways you may contribute to CSMA.
Cash & In-Kind
Donations
Cash donations are a major source of support for CSMA. They provide a charitable
income tax deduction equal to the full value of the gift. In most cases, no
goods or services will be provided in exchange for the donation, so that the
full value may be considered tax deductible. Based on our needs, we also accept
in-kind donations of musical instruments, art, art supplies, services, etc.
Stocks,
Bonds & Securities
Did you know significant tax advantages exist for donating appreciated stock
to a charity? Most donors can deduct the full fair market value of the appreciated
stock without paying capital gains tax. Please consult with your financial
advisor for specific tax guidance, and contact CSMA's Development Director
at 650.917.6800, ext. 303 for information on how to make the transfer.
Bequests & Estate
Gifts
Bequests and estate gifts are made through a donor's will and significant tax
benefits may be derived from them. Such gifts may include but are not limited
to:
- Cash
- Investments
- Property
- Insurance
- Art
- Musical instruments
- Portion of an estate
Because a charitable bequest is wholly deductible
from the adjusted gross estate, significant tax benefits may
be derived from these gifts. An attorney or financial advisor
can help determine the type of gift that is right for you. The
following language is suggested for your will to make a bequest: "I
give, bequeath and devise (cash amount, description of property
or percentage of estate) to the Community School of Music & Arts,
230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View, CA 94040 for its general
purposes."
Trusts & Planned
Gifts
There are several kinds of charitable trusts and annuities, each offering different
benefits to the donor. In most cases, a formal trust arrangement is created
to transfer the donor's assets to a trustee or charity. Please contact your
financial advisor for more information on the benefits of:
- Pooled Income Funds
- Charitable Remainder Unitrusts
- Charitable Annuity Trusts
- Charitable Lead Trusts
