CSMA received its very first foundation grant more than 30 years ago in the amount of $1,500 to support our arts education and financial aid programs. CSMA is pleased that the local foundation that provided us with this grant is still one of our supporters today, along with many other local, regional and national funders.

Foundation donations continue to be one of the critical pieces of our support.

Why? Because foundation leaders recognize the importance of what investments a community must make to grow and thrive, for the long term…education and children, critical thinking skills and creativity, arts audiences and economic stability.

Every year, CSMA receives first-time support from new and established foundations, but it also continues to receive on-going support from a "family" of foundations that have invested for decades in our mission of Arts for All.

CSMA's family of foundations joins with us every year to realize our vision of accessibility for all ages, skill levels and economic means. These foundation-supported programs help CSMA to make a difference in the lives of more than 40,000 people every year:

We don't know for sure, but our guess is that many of the children who benefited from that $1,500 grant almost two decades ago are still benefiting. Why? Because early arts and music education set children on a life-long path of creative expression and critical thinking, not to mention providing them with the joy of simply attending a concert or viewing an art exhibition. . .as a child or as an adult.
