Listen to that song! It could be Haydn, Mozart or Bach. And it’s being played…and replayed…by one of my CSMA violin students. It’s exciting and interesting to hear the progress that the student is making, and reaffirming when he or she is able to play the piece skillfully.
The violin, like the voice, is very sensitive. The study of it reminds me of the singing I did before I entered the Music Conservatory in Sai Gon, Viet Nam to study the violin. Teaching a new student always
makes me feel the same way, young and fresh again. And when a student successfully masters a piece, I always say “Bravo” to the student and to our collaboration.
There’s a slogan in my studio that says:
“Students, you will like it, you will get it and I am here to help you.”
That’s a timeless joy for me.
