How many music venues also serve top quality sushi? Probably not many. Having a fine meal with world class music has to be the complete evening, but as is often the case with the great experiences in life, they are best-kept secrets. Although CSMA has no intention of entering the restaurant business, we share with Yoshi’s the challenge of how to be discovered by those who are not aware of our roster of musical events.

What CSMA also has in common with Yoshi’s is an appreciation of world class music. In April, CSMA had the pleasure of hosting The Etienne Charles Quintet and Loren Schoenberg. Trinidadian jazz trumpeter, bandleader and composer, Etienne Charles, with his blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and straight-ahead jazz, was a sensation at CSMA. If you missed him in April, you now have the chance to see him at Yoshi’s on August 7th.

Charles studied music at Florida State University’s College of Music, and has a Master’s degree from the Julliard School of Music. He brings to bear four generations of musical heritage and his musical collaborations and awards are immense. He has toured widely and is a frequent player in the New York City jazz scene.

Discover Yoshi’s – catch Etienne Charles at Yoshi’s, San Francisco on Tuesday, August 7, 8pm.
