Celebrate National Arts in Education Week

September 12-18 has been designated by the U.S. House of Representatives as national "Arts in Education Week." Authored and introduced by CA Representative Jackie Speier (D-CA), this resolution is the first Congressional expression of support celebrating all the disciplines comprising arts education. The resolution seeks to support the attributes of arts education that are recognized as instrumental to developing a well-rounded education such as creativity, imagination, and cross-cultural understanding. CSMA is pleased to welcome Kathy Thibodeaux as our new Interim Executive Director! Kathy has 25 years of executive-level leadership experience in the private and non-profit sectors. As a past chair and vice-chair of CSMA’s board and past president of the Mountain View Educational Foundation, she has a strong understanding of CSMA’s programs and mission, as well as a commitment to arts education. CSMA's New Media Lab Has a New Look & Trajectory!

An extensive redesign and streamlined look have enabled us to expand both class offerings and sizes. Hardware and software upgrades include a state-of-the-art SmartBoard with power speakers, high performance Apple Mac minis, touch-sensitive Wacom tablets and the latest in MBox technology.

In addition to enhancing your experience in some of your favorite digital classes, this unique facility will be the home to innovative new programs. The Music School curriculum focus will be in the area of music composition, with a New Music Festival in the spring featuring performances of student compositions! Likewise, the Art School will highlight diverse comic book creation techniques.
