CSMA held a concert at Tateuchi Hall featuring The World Harmony Chorus with special guests Aswat Ensemble on June 12, 2017.
World Harmony Chorus brings the community together through a celebration of song. Led by charismatic musician Daniel Steinberg, this diverse choral group performs traditional songs from around the world.
The World Harmony Chorus was joined by Aswat Ensemble, a multi-ethnic and multiracial music ensemble that reaches out to the diverse Bay Area community with folkloric, classical, and contemporary Arabic music. The ensemble plays traditional musical instruments such as the qanun (trapezoidal zither), ‘oud (lute), nay (reed flute), Kaman (violin), riqq/daff (tambourine), tar and darbukkah/tablah (goblet drum). World Harmony Chorus and Aswat Ensemble performed separately and together. Aswat Ensemble performed music from several Arabic-speaking nations, and World Harmony Chorus performed songs from around the world, including Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Brittany, Bulgaria, and Iran.
