We are excited to announce that we have been selected as one of the first ten recipients of The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation’s prestigious Hewlett 50 Arts Commissions, a five-year, $8 million initiative celebrating the foundation’s 50th anniversary that will support the creation and premiere of new works by world-class performing artists in Bay Area communities.

Each Fall and Spring semester CSMA offers a unique Workshop Week to all of our private lesson students. It’s a week during the semester where instead of regular lessons or classes, students can attend a variety of workshops to try out new things, learn a new skill, or work on a specific aspect of their playing (bowing, posture, rhythm, etc.). This week, we’re continuing our alumni series with pianist and composer, Taylor Eigsti, who started taking lessons at CSMA at 6 years old! Eigsti has released 7 albums, garnered multiple GRAMMY Award nominations, and traveled internationally performing everywhere from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl!
