Art4Schools Program Manager

Regular Full-time Exempt


The Art4Schools Program Manager is responsible for CSMA’s growing in-school art program. The manager ensures the highest quality programming through thoughtful hiring of qualified art teaching faculty, excellent support of teachers, regular review and development of standards-based art curriculum and coordination of student art exhibits at school sites and in the community. The Program Manager oversees a staff team of two and approximately 40 faculty.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Leadership:

  • Contributes to strategy development for niche and branding of Art School
  • Represents School in the community as arts advocate and standards-based curriculum expert
  • Contributes to the development of and meet annual budgets goals and manage expenses
  • Designs and leads Program Evaluation
  • Meets with principals, mentor teachers and school site art teachers to strategize scheduling and launch year
  • Maintains positive relationships with school administrators, art teachers, classroom teachers, and parents (includes scheduling classes, communicating program goals, general correspondence, and resolving problems)
  • Manages contract negotiations with schools and districts
  • Ensures a high quality student art experience
  • Supervises and supports the program coordinator and the program administrative assistant

Faculty:

  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates faculty
  • Approves biweekly timecards
  • Oversees faculty training program

Curriculum:

  • Researches and develops compelling curriculum, keeping current with state standards
  • Supervises and supports mentor teachers

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of executive level program management experience in a nonprofit setting
  • Knowledge of education standards for the arts and curriculum development experience
  • Budgeting and strategic planning experience
  • Open and direct leadership style
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact positively with a diverse group of constituencies, including school administrators, teachers, parents and funders
  • High level of competence with basic computer and Google docs
  • Prior experience teaching art in a classroom preferred
  • Graduate degree in arts administration with business experience preferred
